FAST Racing Series returns after 5 years

The Shannon's Fast Racing Series is back after a 5 long years, The series delivers action across both the drag strip and the dirt speedway, with a championship series for a diverse range of quarter mile brackets.

The Shannon's Fast Series is a great way to get involved with entry level competition at Perth Motorplex and a fun night for the family with plenty of variety around the venue. Many current racers begin their drag racing careers in this series,learning the ropes of drag racing before stepping up to the major national drag racing events.

We got a few current WADRA racers to share just some of their memories of the Fast Racing Series or Fast Friday's as everyone likes to call it.

Current Modified bike rider Luke Seaton begin his drag racing career in the fast series back in the 2014/2015 season on a Yamaha XJ6 (Pictured below) in which he finished 3rd in the championship before stepping up on the R1 and to the main series in the 2015/2016 season.

Current 2 time WA Junior Dragster champion Brodie Zappia got his racing licence at a Fast Series event on November 8th 2013, a long 8 years ago. Not very long after that in December, in his 2nd race meeting in competition, he came runner-up to Alanah Cope with a -0.008 red light in the final.

Current National Super Street Champion Paul Garbellini and his wife Lisa both started their sportsman drag racing careers in the fast series back when it was the Fast Fridays. Paul won the first completion meeting he ever raced there. A few years later they both ended up in the final of one of the meetings in OZ EFI class where we had a super tight race where Lisa beat Paul by the smallest of margins.

Zara Board (Pictured above) begin her drag racing journey in the Fast Racing Series, her dad Ian board shared this memory below.

"Top fuel JD racing at fast series way back. Did this on last pass before we finished t&t and stop for break before start of Fast Friday Series. We got it out and Sonja shot home and got the other engine. Swap done in about hour and a half. To the surprise of the guys manning the exit gate made round one of qualifying"

Many current drag racers have won a Fast Racing Series Championship such as a Bailey McClure, Bernie Ellerby, Mick Fenton and many more. Who will be the next drag racing star to begin their drag racing career in this series and maybe one day become a state or national champion.
