Motorplex Rookie Driver of The Year Q&A: Stuart Moorhouse

Congratulations on winning the Rookie Driver of the year , What does it mean to you to win this award?

It’s an absolute honour winning rookie driver of the year. At the start of the season winning this award was my biggest goal. Looking through the names of previous winners I am really proud to add my name to the list.

What was the highlight of your season?

My highlight was making the final at my first meeting of the season. I came into the season not expecting to succeed, my plan was to take it easy and slowly learn the class and to get a feel of the car. But it was an awesome feeling knowing i had what it took to win straight away.

What was the biggest learning curve from stepping up from juniors to Super Sedan?

Racing the full track was a massive learning curve, I found it harder to judge the top end compared to juniors, also the delay box took me a bit to get my head around.

What are you plans for next season?

I’m jumping out of the drivers seat next season. I’m planning on crewing for dad in what ever car he decides to race. I’m just super excited to continue learning and gaining experience from him. I would love to eventually build my own car and race against Dad in the future.

Who would you like to thank?

I’d like to give a huge shoutout to the old man! Without him this season wouldn’t have been possible, He built the most fun and competitive car for me which i’m really great full for. Also a huge thanks to Brayden Naylor for being the best crew chief, every meeting he helped out at we managed to get to a final, so there is something in that.
